Update on my boys

I apologize for being such a horrible blogger! This summer has been a little crazy with all my jobs. In the last month I have heard some updates from most of my boys! We shall start with the oldest. :) Alexander

I have not heard any update from Alex, however I didn’t want to leave him out. He turned 6 years and 7 months today! Hard to believe he is almost 7! I am feeling old. Hopefully he and his partner are doing great!

Colt

Again I have heard nothing directly from him; however he became an uncle again! His sister, Tina, had 9 gorgeous puppies on May 17th. He is now the proud uncle to at least 18 pups! The 2 black ones in the litter look just like him! I know he would be proud of his sister for being such a great mom! Both Colt and Tina will be turning the big 5 in just a few days!

Ely

Ely’s allergies are the most under control that they have been in the last 2 years. He went to see the allergist at our vet a few months ago and boy has it made a difference! Ely is enjoying the lazy dog days of summer and is currently trying to train Dakota. Let’s just say Ely is ready to ship him off to military school! The poor guy does not know what’s going to happen to him in a few weeks ;) Ely is also the proud half uncle to Tina’s pups. There is one little yellow one that looks just like Ely did when he was a baby.

Sherman

I hear Sherman is doing well. One of my lovely spies was able to get some pictures of him when they toured the school. I talked to Sherman’s former partner a few weeks ago and found out that the reason why he gave him up was because he no longer needed him. He regained most of his sight! He said it was a hard decision to give Sherman back, but knows that it was the best decision. I am very happy that he was able to be a part of Sherman’s life.

Rocky

I found out that one of the wonderful kennel assistants outsmarted the Rock Star when it came to his love of water bowls. I am thinking Rocky will be getting a bowl stand and some bowls for his graduation present ;) While at college Rocky has moved on from just modeling, he is now a movie star! From what my spies have sent me, he is adjusting well to this new side job at college.

Dakota

Dakota will be meeting his new puppy raiser family tomorrow morning at our meeting and will be joining their household next week. His previous raisers could no longer raise him due to some health issues. So we have been keeping him until he found his new home. He has grown a boat load in the past 2 weeks and is in the process of losing all of his teeth. He is such a playful little guy, and has been a fun addition to our house.

Puppy #6

So I have known about this for a while, just have not gotten around to blogging about it. If you are my friend on facebook, you found out about it a long time ago. I will be getting a new puppy in only 15 days! This will be a very special pup as he is one of Tina’s puppies! Tina and I had a little talk back in February that when she had her next litter that she needed to have lots of boys and that she could pick the color for me. She listened to the first part, however not the second part. Tina had 9 puppies - 7 boys and 2 girls. There were 4 yellow boys, 2 black boys, 1 black and tan boy, 1 yellow girl, and 1 black and tan girl. I got pick of what color I wanted and since I have not had a black and tan, I jumped on the opportunity to get one. I will be getting a big black and tan boy on July 24th. He will have one sister and one brother in our group and 2 of his other siblings will be in a group not too far from us. I hear from some more of my spies (I love all my spies!!!) that he is quite the crowd pleaser, is gorgeous, and is very sweet! I found out his name today, however I am going to make you wait to find that out later ;) If you are on facebook, you already know that too:)

So that is a little update on all my boys, plus the foster one (Dakota). I will try not to be such a bad blogger from now on.

Happy 4th of July!!!

We hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July celebrating our country's independence and remembering those who have and are protecting our country and freedom.

I got a call last Monday asking if I would be willing to puppy sit one of the pups in our group due to his raiser having to be hospitalized. I went to pick him up a few minutes after getting off the phone with one of his raisers.

Meet Dakota, he is a 15 week old black goldador who is as sweet as can be! I had forgotten just how much energy a normal puppy has. Ely is ready to send him home when he gets going crazy, but otherwise they get along. Ely actually invited Dakota to play tonight, which is very rare for Ely to do.

Dakota looks very similar to how Sherman looked when he was this age. He also (if it is even possible) makes more of a mess when he drinks than Rocky did, but hopefully he will grow out of it. He is such a cuddle bug and loves to sit on your lap if you are sitting on the floor.

I had forgotten just how much I love having a puppy in training in the house, so I am loving every minute that we are keeping him.

Dakota had a very busy 4th of July. He went to kids church this morning, where all of the kids adored him. It was not the normal Sunday service, it was baptismal this weekend which means there was a big blow up pool out front. Dakota would have loved to go for a swim:) He then slept through the adult service, which is pretty amazing due to the fact that it is really loud! He then got lots more loving from some of Rocky’s fan club. Next up was a trip to Lowes with my parents while I got the run down for a house that I am house sitting (that includes four 5 week old puppies!!!) Dakota was exhausted by the time we got home. He took a short nap, before we headed out to have dinner with some of our family. Dakota did fabulous with 3 small children running around and they absolutely adored him. I think they wore each other out! He has now put himself to bed, which is probably a good thing since there are a ton of fireworks going off outside (they are not fazing him one bit)

As an extra special treat, one of my favorite pictures of Rocky that was taken last year on July 4th

Happy 4th of July!!!!

The College boys report cards and something very special!

I just want to say I am scared to death and extremely excited every time I get an e-mail that has Rocky or Sherman’s name in the subject line! This morning when I got back from the vet with Ely, I had an e-mail with Sherman and Rocky’s reports as the subject. The good news is that they are both doing great!!!! The Sherminator is dominating in phase 3 (which means he is class ready and is just waiting for his forever person) and the Rock Star is rocking it out in phase 2 (which is the half way point with more demands being placed on him than in phase 1). I am so happy with how they both are doing! They sure do know how to make me proud! They really are doing great and I am glad that they are doing so well and having fun learning. You should be able to click on the training reports to make them bigger. Below is Sherman’s report card: Up next is Rocky’s report: I seriously could not be happier with how they are doing! There are still some things they need to work out, but hopefully a little bit more practice and they will have it in no time. Keep up the good work boys! Note to Rocky’s trainer: I really did try to fix Rocky’s love affair with water bowls! He was smart enough to flip over a no tip bowl when he was just a baby. He just likes playing in water I think. Luckily he is a sweet, smart boy and makes up for it. Hope you are having as much fun hanging out with Rocky as I did! He still gets talked about a lot around town from his huge fan club! They are cheering him on all the way up here! And as if today could not get any better, I got an envelope in the mail from Southeastern which I knew exactly what it was. It was a picture of Rocky in harness. All those modeling shoots paid off; he is posed perfectly with his ears in alert mode! He is such a handsome boy! There was also a certificate of appreciation for raising Rocky, which will go on the ‘wall of fame’ and a letter of thanks that will go in the scrapbook. The picture that I got is a lot better quality then this, but the scanner did not want to work with me today :)
