Firedog?
Sherman thinks he wants to change careers. He wants to be a fire dog and ride in the big, red truck. We had one of our February meetings at the police and Fire station. The police officer rode his bike-fast zipping in and out of the pups, who were lined up with space between. He came super close to Sherman and I was super proud of him for staying and not even flinching. The sounds of the police car didn’t bother him either. He did enjoy sitting on the fire truck.

To the Theater
Sherman, I do believe, enjoys the theatre. For my communication class last semester we had to see three plays. Sherman went to see “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “The Carolina Opry,” and to the Renaissance Festival in the fall. I think his favorite was the Renaissance Festival because there were a lot more people to watch.
I have to attend three plays this semester as well for Theater Appreciation. The first play we attended a few weeks ago was “High School Musical on Stage.” Sherman seemed to enjoy it a little bit and watch a few minutes when they were dancing. He did a great job of sleeping through the play. (He is a super good sleeper.)
He is to the most cultured of my puppies and seems to enjoy attending plays. Of course, he just loves to go anywhere.

Happy New Years
Christmas
Sherman and Ely enjoyed their Christmas. Sherman enjoyed going shopping and seeing all the people and especially seeing the man in the red suit. Our family had our annual Christmas Eve-eve chili party. The boys were on their best behavior, though Ely thought that everyone was too close to the chest that has all of their treats on it and no one was giving him anything. On Christmas Eve, Sherman went and slept through the service at church as always. As part of our tradition, we read “The Night before Christmas” on Christmas Eve. I also read the guide dog version of “The Night before Christmas” and put Ely to sleep.
On Christmas Day, the boys enjoyed their food as usually. We had breakfast once my grandparents and my sister got here. After that we opened presents. My family said that Sherman and Ely got more presents than anyone else combined, but I can’t help that I love my boys. Sherman enjoyed opening his and Ely’s stocking and then opening their toys. Sherman especially enjoyed his busy buddies Chuckle. It is a toy that is stronger then a Kong and he loves it.

After the presents the boys went outside to play with their toys. We then took Sherman to see Marley and Me and he was so cute watching the movie. He loved when Marley was a puppy and would just watch with his ears all up and would turn his head to try to figure out why there was a giant puppy in front of him. Thankfully he lay down and went to sleep and didn’t watch the end of the movie which was too sad. As we were coming out of the theater we saw his friend and fellow puppy in training, Lucky, who was going to watch the movie next showing.

All in all, he had a great Christmas and enjoyed all of his new toys and bones. I think most of all Sherman and Ely enjoyed having everyone together.
Thanksgiving at the beach
For Thanksgiving our family decided to try something new and go to Myrtle Beach. The weather was perfect, in the mid 70s. Sherman and Ely loved going and staying in a hotel with a view. They spent a good amount of time on the balcony watching the people on the beach. There was an extra bonus, they were renourishing the beach and the boys got to watch the people work along with the hundreds of seagulls that were staying around looking for lunch to be pumped in. The poor boys were so tired from playing on the beach and that they would pass out at night.

Sherman braved the crowds and went shopping on black Thursday and even went to the Carolina Opry for their Christmas performance. He thought it was pretty boring except the part where there was a dog in the show. Sherman even helped pick up a ton of shells. I could not have asked for better puppies, they were on their best behavior at the hotel and seemed to enjoy themselves. When we were getting ready to leave, Ely just sat down and didn’t want to leave. They are both so happy at the beach.
